Why
should I
adopt a pet?
Because you’ll save a life. Each year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people consider adoption when looking for a pet.- Humane Society USA

How do I adopt a pet?
There are a few ways you can adopt a Yaqui pet. First, you can visit the ranch to see our beautiful pets in person. If you aren’t local and/or can’t visit, you can follow our daily updates on our social media sites and our website. When you see the pet of your dreams, call us, e-mail us, message us, or even send a smoke signal! Our top priority is finding a great home for our rescues.
After you choose your pet, we will ask you to fill out an adoption application with your basic contact information. Once approved, you will sign an adoption contract. We will also conduct a home visit to ensure that our rescues are placed in a safe environment.
Once you’ve passed the home visit, your furever friend is yours! You can live an long and happy life together!

How to avoid picking the wrong pet?
There’s a lot to think about when choosing the right pet. Here are things we recommend you consider before adopting:
- Commitment – How much time do you have? Some pets require more time and energy that others. Some animals need exercise a few times a day, with other are happy relaxing in the house.
- Temperament – Some pets are high-energy, and some are more chill. What kind of personality are you looking for in a pet?
- Expenses – Animals have basic needs like humans do. Do you have the funds to provide food, water, proper shelter, and medical care?
-
Are pets for adoption healthy?
Pets from rescues are just as, if not more, healthy than pet-store animals. All of our pets are fully-vetted, spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped. Most of our dogs are socialized, potty-trained, and understand how to walk on a leash. Our cats are socialized with other cats, and interact with humans everyday.

What are the fees for adoption?
Adopting from a shelter makes sense because it costs far less to rescue a pet from a shelter than it does to buy one from a breeder or pet store. Adoption fees vary based on the type of animal and their individualized care needs. Click on our Adoption Fees button below for more information.
